Joanna Constandis, Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator at Michael J Lonsdale, has made the ‘class of 2019’ for the UK Construction Week Role Models award.
In its second year running the initiative takes 98 inspiring individuals from across the construction industry, all telling their story to inspire others and represent the full diversity the sector has to offer.
Joanna herself has a cracking story. Having graduated in 2013, she decided to take a radical career change and travel the world learning about environmental issues. In her 3 years spent abroad, Joanna volunteered for Raleigh International in Nicaragua and attained a scholarship with VerdEnergia in Costa Rica, contributing to local construction, reforestation, and water conservation projects.
Her arrival back in the UK led to joining Michael J Lonsdale, where she went on to study an MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation in the Built Environment and be promoted to Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator, helping devise a company-wide environmental strategy.
The UK Construction Week takes place between 8th – 10th October at the NEC Birmingham, with the Role Model of the Year award presented on the 8th. Best of luck Joanna and congratulations on the hard work!
