Using 70% less water and 40% less energy than a typical office block, the new Bloomberg HQ puts sustainability and innovation at the forefront.
Project info
The Bloomberg London project was the creation of media empire Bloomberg’s new European headquarters, which was a Stanhope Development with Sir Robert McAlpine as the main contractor.
We were appointed for the mechanical shell and core and fit out packages and we were the lead coordinator for this large and complex project.
What We Did
As part of the project, we provided two energy centres which are located in the southeast corner of the basement, housing the main heating and cooling plants. The services were then distributed to the seven core risers via a network of large pipework along the circulation corridors in the basement.
The roof also houses more plants which provide the main fresh air distribution to the accepted space and cooling for the numerous data centres.
Making visions a reality
Completed in 2018, this 3.2-acre site is the world’s most sustainable office building. It has gone on to win numerous awards including the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize and BCO 2018 Best of the Best. The project also achieved BREEAM Excellent with the highest ever scoring to date.
