Bringing Silicon Valley to London, Facebook wanted to bring the spirit of the unique brand to their tranquil location, meters away from one of Londons busiest streets.
Project info
Our mechanical services installation for the CAT B fit-out helped Facebooks new office space win Regional Winner for Corporate Workplace London at the 2019 BCO Awards. Facilitating Facebook’s largest engineering team outside the USA, the business took all of the 243,000 sq ft office space offered at the 1 Rathbone Square development.

What We Did
We undertook mechanical services installation for the CAT B fit-out, consisting of 8 floors (basement – level 6). These floors were predominantly open-plan offices with exposed services and modular meeting rooms.
Fan coil units installed to landlord supplied LTHW and HW systems provided heating and cooling for all floors. Comms rooms on each floor were services by refrigerant-based cooling via VRF systems, configured to provide duty/standby resilience.
The complex basement area contained a large commercial kitchen which serviced the basement restaurant. Furthermore, plant rooms containing supply and extract plant, hot water generation and LTHW/CHW provided additional requirements for above.
Making Visions a Reality
Facebook wanted to create a space that truly brought the essence of San Francisco to London. By creating an ambience that resembles the Silicon Valley HQ, alongside a public square that offers water features, trees, greenery and yoga classes, a unique experience is created for its estimated 3,000 staff and visitors per month.
The office space also hosts Ldn Lab, an incubator space that takes on US-based tech start-ups as part of a rotating, three-month programme where engineering, product and other experts will give their support to help boost the business of around 20 firms a year.
